A Dev Journey is my corner of the web: who I am, my CV, the projects on these pages, and an AI news wire that says plainly it’s written by a machine. It’s bilingual from top to bottom, French and English, and fully static.
It started in March 2024 as a blog on an Astro starter. In October 2026 I rebuilt it around a design I made on claude.ai, and it became what you’re reading now.
The AI wire
The idea: let a machine do the news, and be honest about it.
- Briefs, five times a day. A GitHub Action runs at 4, 7, 11, 16 and 18 h (Toronto time). It reads RSS feeds across eight spheres (AI, tech, markets, science, climate, world, security, space), and Claude merges the stories and writes short briefs in both languages, each with a hype meter and a substance meter.
- Guard rails. The model only sees the headline, the feed summary and the link, never the full article. Every source URL in a brief has to be one of the links it was given, or the brief is dropped. Stories briefed in the last 48 hours are passed back in so they don’t repeat.
- Long-reads, twice a day. Another Action has Claude write a full article in English and French. It’s shown the last week of briefs and prefers following one up; the post and the brief then link to each other.
- Illustrations. Gemini draws a cover for each brief and article. When it fails, the entry borrows an existing image, keeps the planned drawing, and a script draws it later.
- Labelled. Every machine-written post says so. The ones I write myself are marked as mine.
How it’s built
- Astro, static, almost no JavaScript. No UI framework; pages are plain HTML and CSS, with motion done in CSS and turned off for people who prefer reduced motion. It scores 100 across the board in Lighthouse.
- Two languages, one set of pages. Every page lives once in
src/views/and is served under/fr/and/en/, with translated paths (/fr/fil/↔/en/wire/). - Search with Pagefind, built after the site, filterable by sphere.
- Images are turned into WebP at three sizes before every build and served as
<picture>. - Projects each get their own page with a screenshot carousel, a write-up like this one, and the posts that belong to them.
- RSS feeds in both languages, a sitemap, and structured data, deployed on Vercel.
