Konek
Konek wires up hotel rooms: Wi-Fi, interactive TV, Chromecast. I modelled the device’s enclosure in code, with OpenSCAD, then put it to the test on the 3D printer.

Konek offers hotels a “Smart Hotel as a Service”: Wi-Fi, interactive TV and Chromecast in every room, on a subscription.
On this project, at Libéo, I didn’t write a single line of the app. I programmed something else: the device’s enclosure, in 3D. In OpenSCAD, you don’t draw shapes with the mouse, you write them in code, and that’s what makes precise modelling possible.
I had to follow the blueprints and stick to their measurements to fit in the support points, the ventilation and the openings for the external ports. All while striking the right balance between the amount of material used (PLA), print speed and the enclosure’s strength. I then ran the test prints on the 3D printer until everything fell into place.
