Tech3Lab is HEC Montréal’s lab specialized in user experience (UX) evaluation in the context of business technologies. To understand what consumers, employees and citizens actually go through when they use technology, it relies on tools from neuroscience, and every experiment produces a lot of data.
The app
- An internal tool. The app was built for the lab’s own teams and was never released to the public, so there is nothing to show here.
- Big data, made readable. It let researchers load and explore large volumes of experiment data, with many charts to compare participants, conditions and measurements.
- Pure SVG charts. No charting library: every chart was drawn by hand in vanilla SVG. SVG is really powerful once you know how to use it, and it gave full control over every axis, shape and label.
- Animated. The charts came with smooth animations, so moving from one view of the data to another stayed easy to follow.
My part
I worked on it at iTx Technologies as a full-stack developer, and built the charts and their animations.
