The short version
- YouTube Music starts labelling AI-generated songs.
- The labels come to YouTube later.
- Sources give no detail on how labels are assigned.
What happened
YouTube Music has begun rolling out AI music labels. The labels will also come to YouTube soon, according to Ars Technica. A similar label was reported earlier for AI-altered music on YouTube.
Why it might matter
Listeners may be able to tell AI-made tracks from human ones. Artists may face more scrutiny over how their music is labelled.
What we don’t know yet
The sources do not say how a track is marked as AI-generated, whether labels are self-declared or detected, or when the rollout will be complete.
